| The
Hiralaxmi Crafts Park was opened to the public on
18th of December 2005 at Village Bhujodi, Bhuj.
|
The
Park is the brainchild of our MD Mr. Chetan
Shah and a unique tribute to his late mother
. The primary intention of this crafts park is to preserve
and nourish the extraordinary treasures of arts and
culture and provide the artisans of Kutch with a platform
to showcase their wares. The varied art forms are :
weaving, patola, bandhni, batiq, ajrakh, block print
to name a few.
The
Park provides free board and lodging to 10-12 artisans
at a time. Apart from the display of crafts, the park
is equipped with other facilities for fun & entertainment
such as an electronic game block, open air theatre,
children’s play area, bridge over the lake, plant
nursery and a cafeteria too.
This
is a totally non-profitable venture and visitors are
not charged any entry fee. Proceeds of the sales are
given to the artisans. The response to the park has
been good and hundreds of artisans have already benefited
from the exposure.
